OUR OFFERING
Of the three bedrooms, we keep one for ourselves, and make the other two available to our guests. The rest of the house – including the 54-foot-long verandah with its planters chairs – is open for you to use.

Hibiscus room
Directly off the verandah, this room catches the early morning Sun through its Venetian louvered doors. Open up the full-width doors for a lovely view of the lake from your bed, and you will be greeted with a profusion of multi-hued hibiscus. The 18 x 12 ft room has a 5 x 10 ft. attached toilet and shower.
The queen size (60 X 80 inches), “chhatri” bed was a part of my aunt Aloo’s dowry when she got married in Baroda. After moving around to Pune, Udvada and Mumbai, this bed has now, 60 years later, found a loving space in my home. Do remember to look at the old hand etched painting on the glass, albeit a little smudged and dulled with age but still a lovely detail to have. A cot is stored under the bed, in case of an extra person sharing the room. The large teak cabinet was used by my great grandmother Manekbai to store her linens. The beautiful finger jointed drawers kept all cockroaches at bay!

What’s for dinner?
Although only 32 kms from the old Mumbai-Pune highway, Wild Fig Bungalow is in a very rural area. The three, tiny kirana shops in the village cater to basic needs – but if you want bread, butter or cheese, good luck! With the nearest dhaba being more than an hour’s drive away, we provide all meals. For lunch, we usually provide a Maharashtrian meal. For dinner, we prepare continental or Parsi dishes – or a combination thereof. Since we have only one set of guests at a time, we can cater to your individual preferences. Please let us know your food preferences and limitations well in advance, since we need to make arrangements for all ingredients from Mumbai.
